Fore! LFTT hosts first Orlando golf tourney
The first Laughs for the Troops Orlando golf tournament is set for Monday, Oct. 16 at Disney’s Palm Golf Course. The event will feature the golf tournament in the morning and a special dinner and comedy night following at Disney’s Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) located in Central Florida.
“This is our first Laughs for the Troops event in the Orlando area, and we are really excited to be able to share our mission with Central Floridians. We also also look forward to providing a fun-filled day for local military service personnel and veterans,” said Thomas Brown, LFTT’s founder and comedian.
Although both events are official fundraisers for LFTT, Brown hopes to use this opportunity to fully introduce Laughs for the Troops’ mission and help build awareness of post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI), and provide information about how it affects, not only our military personnel and veterans, but also our first-responders.
“We know, based on scientific evidence, that laughter really does provide healing qualities for those who suffer from PTS and TBI,” Brown said. “We’re working to provide interactions through comedy events that give respite and healing for the entire family system.”
Interested golfers, individuals or teams, as well as sponsors can register for the Oct. 16 Laughs for the Troops’ Orlando golf event on the LFTT’s website, www.LaughsfortheTroops.org beginning Aug. 1. Event information and registration can also be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for direct interaction with the LFTT team.
